York Train Show 2022

By | May 8, 2022

I went to the TCA Eastern Division York train show last week.

I planned to spend my Costco rewards cash this year. Which was about 500 dollars. I figured that would be a good limit. Instead I went way over my limit by buying an Acela and add on cars. I was so happy though and I found it at a good price. Thank you Nassau hobbies!

Also I was hoping to meet some of the Youtubers I follow and met Sid from Sids Trains, Chris from Chris’s trains and things, Chris from RDP Trains, Dan from Trainman Dan, and Sean from Sean’s Train Depot . It was great meeting them in person. Check out their Youtube channels for more.

Lionel was not there this spring. They announced that they will only be at the fall show.

York map

York has many halls to see trains in. Usually they have two vendor halls and 4 member halls full of trains.

You register for the show in the silver hall. The silver and blue halls are the newest member halls and quite large. They also have a concession between them where you can buy refreshments.

The red and white halls are older wood structures where I normally find the best deals.

The dealer halls are the orange and purple halls and last fall the gold hall had vendors in it too.

This year the purple hall had S gauge, 0 gauge and G gauge operating layouts normally these are in the black hall.

The orange hall is the newest and largest hall at York. It has concessions too. This is where I bought the Acela.

S gauge layout

The s gauge layout was pretty cool. This was a modular layout that covered about 20 X 40 feet. The had an American flyer made a mail car that would take a bag and swap it at the station. So much better than Lionel’s. That was really cool and you see it in the video below.

O gauge layout

The next layout was a O gauge layout by Talley Ober of Eagle line Railroad. He did all the work on this layout and had a couple guys help him set it up at York.

It had a scratch build refinery as well has plenty of Lionel and MTH accessories. You can see it in the video below. You can see it in the video below.

Strasburg No 90

Next I was off to the Strasburg railroad which is about and one hour drive east of York. It is in the heart of Amish country
and travels trough beautiful farms. It is a 4.5 mile stretch out to famous broad way line of the former Pennsylvania railroad.

The day I went was a Thomas the tank day so there were lots of kids returning on the Thomas train which we passed on the way out.

My video below will highlight those as well as my ride behind the Strasburg railroad number 90.
