Unpacking items
Carefully remove the rotating flag from its box.
You should have the following parts.
- ANFLAG control module
- Power supply
- Woodland scenics flag
- Woodland scenics spot light
- Servo base
Power it up!
First connect the servo base to the connector on the right side of the ANFLAG. Make sure you match the colors of the wires on the connectors.
Then insert the LED in its hole.
Then connect the power supply to the ANFLAG on the left side. Do not force the connector it only goes in one way.
Everything should now be connected. Plug in the power supply. The rotating joint should rotate to the “center” position.
Start the animation by pressing the “top” button, and you will see the rotating joint perform a “flag waving” motion.
Find a location for your rotating flag animation
The rotating flag animation can be mounted in a hole per drawings above. Using no 2 or no 4 screws. Or you can place it in your layout using a dab of removable glue.
The ANFLAG module can be installed under the layout using the mounting hole provided. It is sized for a number 6 sheet metal screw.
Make sure the rotating flag animation can be easily removed. So you can change the software or service it.
Mount the flag
Unplug the power supply if plugged in. Plug in the power supply.
The ANFLAG control module will initialize and set the platform to the “center” position for 5 seconds. Immediately unplug the power supply so that is stays in the “center” position.
Mount the flag in the hole into the rubber rotation grip. It needs to be pressed in you will fell it insert and then stop.
Operation
There are three buttons on the ANFLAG. The “top” button activates the animation. The “bottom” button activates the main menu.
The recessed button on left is used for loading a new operating system on the controller. It will not be used.

Deactivate timer mode
To deactivate the timer mode press and hold the “top” button down until you until you see the flag move one time between the “back” position and the “center” position. This indicates that “timer” mode is “off”.
If timer mode is already off it will just run the animation.
Select timer mode
To activate and select a timer mode the timer mode must first be inactive. Deactivate using the instructions “Deactivate timer mode”.
If you press the “bottom” button the rotating flag will move three times between the “back” position and the “center” position which indicates you are in “program” mode.
Next press the “top” button to scroll through the different “timer” options. The rotating flag will move back and forth “n” number of times to represent which setting you are on. Use the table below as a guide.
- Timer options
- Timer off (i.e. pressing the left button activates the animation) – 1 movement
- Timer 0 seconds (i.e. continuous operation) – 2 movements
- Random between 0 and 10 seconds – 3 movements
- Random between 10 and 20 seconds – 4 movements
- Random between 20 and 30 seconds – 5 movements
- Timer every 30 seconds – 6 movements
- Timer every 60 seconds – 7 movements
- Timer every 300 seconds – 8 movements
Once you have reached the setting you want. Press the “bottom” button. The flag will confirm with “one” movement for “off” or “two” movements for “on”.
Light operation (optional)
The product comes shipped with light in “auto” mode. If you want to set it to “always on” mode do the following.
Note: Auto mode with turn the light on and off when the flag starts and stops its animation.
To set the light mode first unplug the power supply.
Then press and hold the “top” button for “auto” mode or the bottom button for “always on” mode.
Continue to hold in the button and plug in the power supply. Continue holding until you see the flag start to cycle. Release the button. It should cycle four times at the “back” position.
Then test that the light mode is as expected by pressing the “top” button to activate the animation.
