Unpacking items
Carefully remove the fly fisherman from its box.
You should have the following parts.
- AN1S control module
- Power supply
- Fly fisherman figure
- Servo base
Power it up!
First connect the servo base to the connector on the right side of the AN1S. Make sure you match the wires on the connectors.
Then connect the power supply to the AN1S on the left side. Do not force the connector it only goes in one way.

Everything should now be connected. Plug in the power supply. The rotating platform should rotate to the “rest” position and then 5 seconds later rotate to the cast position.
Start the animation by pressing the “top” button, and you will see the rotating platform perform a “casting” motion.
Find a location for your fly fisherman animation
Find a location near a body of water on your layout.
The fly fisherman can be mounted in a hole roughly 1″ X 1″. Using no 2 or no 4 screws. Or you can place it in your layout using a dab of removable glue.
The AN1S module can be installed under the layout using the mounting hole provided. It is size for a number 6 sheet metal screw.
Make sure the fly fisherman can be easily removed. So you can change the software or service it.
Mount the figure
Unplug the power supply if plugged in. Plug in the power supply.
The AN1S control module will initialize and set the platform to the “rest” position for 5 seconds. Immediately unplug the power supply so that is stays in the “rest” position.
Mount your figure at the “rest” position with a dab of removable glue.
Operation
There are three buttons on the AN1S. The “top” button activates the animation. The “bottom” button activates the main menu.
The recessed button on left is used for loading a new operating system on the controller. It will not be used.

Deactivate timer mode
To deactivate the timer mode press and hold the “top” button down until you until you see the fly fisherman move one time between the “cast” position and the “middle” position. This indicates that “timer” mode is “off”.
If timer mode is already off it will just run the animation.
Select timer mode
To activate and select a timer mode the timer mode must first be inactive. Deactivate using the instructions “Deactivate timer mode”.
If you press the “bottom” button the fly fisherman will move three times between the “cast” position and the “middle” position which indicates you are in “program” mode.
Next press the “top” button to scroll through the different “timer” options. The fly fisherman will move back and forth “n” number of times to represent which setting you are on. Use the table below as a guide.
- Timer options
- Timer off (i.e. pressing the left button activates the animation) – 1 movement
- Timer 0 seconds (i.e. continuous operation) – 2 movements
- Random between 0 and 5 seconds – 3 movements
- Random between 5 and 10 seconds – 4 movements
- Random between 10 and 20 seconds – 5 movements
- Timer every 5 seconds – 6 movements
- Timer every 10 seconds – 7 movements
- Timer every 20 seconds – 8 movements
Once you have reached the setting you want. Press the “bottom” button. The fly fisherman with confirm with “one” movement for “off” or “two” movements for “on”.
Have fun animating!
Casting direction (optional)
The product comes shipped with a right handed fly fisherman casting “counter clockwise”. If you want to substitute a left handed figure you will need to have your fly fisherman cast “clockwise”.
To set the “casting” direction first unplug the power supply.
Then press and hold the “top” button in for “clockwise” or the “bottom” button in for “counter clockwise”.
Continue to hold in the button and plug in the power supply. Continue holding until you see the fly fisherman start to cycle. Release the button. It should cycle four times at the cast position.
Then test that the “casting” is as expected by pressing the “top” button to activate the animation.
